DOL releases new guide for women in green jobs

THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR HAS RELEASED A GUIDE TO HELP WOMEN PREPARE FOR, FIND AND SUCCEED IN GREEN JOBS.

The online publication, available at http://www.dol.gov/wb/Green_Jobs_Guide/GreenJobs%20Final_11.2011.pdf will help workers learn about a range of in-demand and emerging jobs, as well as job training opportunities and career development tools, in the clean energy economy.

Ocean Campus: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Closed for Lunch – 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm
Evening Hours – Tuesday, 4:00 pm – 6 pm

Mission Campus: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Closed for Lunch – 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm

John Adams Campus: Mondays Only – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Lunch Break – 12 noon – 1:00 pm

Due to budget constraints, the Career Centers are understaffed, therefore, we ask that you email careerchat@ccsf.edu if you are unable to reach us by telephone.

Resume Update

Food for Thought

In pursuit of the perfect resume, here are some thoughts:

The top of the resume needs to grab  the employers attention.  Therefore, a long description of the position you’re  seeking isn’t necessary.  You should highlight instead your top accomplishments.

To describe yourself  as “experienced” is too  vague, so be specific.

To state you are a “team player” isn’t always enough.  Describe your team efforts with team action.

Remember,  you need to be dynamic!  Don’t wait for the interview, show enthusiasm and energy.

Finally, you do not need to add:  references upon request.
